2026 Impact Report

With the support and assistance of the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation, Calgary Rotarians
support a wide range of important causes and make a real difference in our community.

A LETTER from the CRCF Chair

Established in 1972, the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation (CRCF) is a registered foundation which oversees the pooled funds accumulated from the generous donations from individual Rotarians and the 12 members clubs in the Calgary area over the past 54 years. A huge thank you to the 24 Board Members who have served on behalf of those clubs this year with a special thanks to the following Directors whose terms are expiring; Bud Watson, Joe Klassen, Garfield Ganong and Mike Ruttan.

I am happy to announce that a $3.1M income distribution will be allocated back to the members clubs, who in turn, support their charities and projects thereby Increasing their impact both locally and abroad.

The CRCF ended their fiscal year on February 28, 2026 with total assets of $75M. The Investment Committee, under the stewardship of Chair Rick Erven, did an excellent job overseeing the independent managers to maintain balanced portfolios as they delivered total growth of $6.5M or 9.18 per cent.

Total contributions for the fiscal year were $941K which includes both the new Singhal Family Endowment (a non-Rotarian Family who generously donated $521K) and a second large individual donation of $209K.  These were both facilitated through the Rotary Club of Calgary. Thank you to Rotary Club of Calgary member Douglas MacMillan for connecting Dr. Singhal to the CRCF to fulfil their family’s philanthropic legacy.

The Audit Committee, led by Sandy Dougall and supported by Treasurer Kevin MacLeod and our bookkeeper Tracy Nelson, ensured a timely and accurate audit of our financial statements. It was a quiet year for the Governance Committee lead by Past Chair Mike Ruttan, with many by-law, document, and record keeping updates occurring in the prior year.

The Communications Committee lead by Chair Doug Webb had a great year of creating content and information for Directors to use in their clubs to encourage member Rotarians to make donations to the CRCF with the goal to enhance member engagement.

The nominating committee, led by Vice Chair Grant MacEachern, hosted our second New Director’s Orientation meeting. There were seven new Directors in attendance to learn more about the CRCF in advance of their terms, which will assist them in learning how to expand the reach of the CRCF within their home clubs.

I welcome new incoming Directors to the Board; Rod McMahon, Drew Turnbull, Nurdin Qasimali, Mike Moore and Evan Strong. I am confident in the continued success of our foundation under the strength of our excellent Executive team and future leadership of incoming Chair Grant MacEachern.  It has been an honour to serve as Chair of the CRCF Board. I truly believe in in the power of connection when we unite for good.

Yours in Rotary,

Robert Wolfson,

Chair CRCF 2025-26
